Great thoughts.. I would say that it would be good for current CS students to be aware of AI, but still focus on their core research interests. For example, if they are doing HCI research, then be aware of how AI could be used in HCI, but still focus on the novel HCI work that they are doing. Learn to use AI tools without necessarily being an AI research expert. So that when they go into the job market their HCI skills will different them from all of the other AI-trained applicants. Once the AI summer is over, those HCI skills will be invaluable.
